This course is designed to provide an overview of the ACA Accreditation Process.

Every camp being visited in 2024 must have at least one (1) person who completes this course on behalf of the camp; that person must actively assist in preparation for the accreditation visit, be engaged in on-site operations during the camp season, and participate fully in the on-site accreditation visit. All camps are strongly encouraged to complete this course by April 1. For camps new to accreditation to receive an accreditation visit in 2024, this course must be completed no later than April 1, 2024.

*Multiple people from a camp are encouraged to take this course.

Objectives:

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • navigate the Accreditation Process Guide
  • demonstrate applicability and compliance of the standards.
  • identify different modes of camp operation.
  • articulate the importance of preparing and organizing written documentation.
  • recognize the criteria needed to maintain accreditation in visit and non-visit years.

Audience:

This course is designed for camp leadership preparing for accreditation visits in the upcoming season or who are new to the accreditation process. This course is also appropriate for those considering seeking accreditation for the first time.

Accreditation Process Guide, 2019 Edition (updated 11/2019):

To participate, you MUST have an Accreditation Process Guide (APG) v. 2019 (updated 11/2019).

Published: Each currently accredited camp and camp seeking accreditation is provided 1 published copy of the APG. If you need this, please contact your accreditation staff.

Digital: A digital version of the APG is provided to all current fee-paying camps for each primary and standard contact. This is in the Accreditation Portal. If you need assistance with access, please contact your accreditation staff.

Purchase: Non-fee-paying camps (new to accreditation and have not paid yet) and camps wanting additional printed copies can purchase these through the bookstore.
