Camp emergencies require staff members to know their roles, communicate clearly, and act quickly before a crisis occurs. This webinar will first cover the essential components of an effective emergency action plan, including staff responsibilities, communication systems, emergency equipment, access for emergency medical services, and opportunities to rehearse the plan. The session will also address heat illness as a distinct camp safety concern, with practical guidance on prevention, hydration and acclimatization, recognizing heat exhaustion versus heatstroke, and providing immediate life-saving care.

Why You Should Attend

  • Learn how to prepare for and respond to a camp emergency.

  • Learn to distinguish mild heat illness from a medical emergency.

  • Learn how to initiate appropriate first-response measures for suspected heatstroke.
