Volunteer Visitor Roles & Responsibilities

  • Coordinating visit arrangements with the camp, including helping to determine which visit option is most appropriate for the camp's program, arranging logistics of visit, and when/how to review the camp's Written Documentation Review. 
  • Discuss with the camp contact to determine, prior to the visit, which camp modes, services, and specialized activities will be scored.
  • Preparing yourself for the visit by reviewing the standards with attention to the applicable mandatory standards, the written materials required, and the modes and activities to be scored by the camp.
  • Communicating with the other members of the visit team to discuss setting visit dates, details, methods of conducting the visit, and ensuring their involvement in the review of the Written Documentation Review.
  • Mentoring, delegating, and sharing responsibilities with other members of your visitor team (2nd/3rd Visitors) so that they can learn and practice their skills to develop into strong future Lead Visitors themselves. 

  • Working with the Lead Visitor to set the visit date.
  • Assisting with the review of the Written Documentation Review.
  • Preparing yourself for the visit by reviewing the standards with attention to the applicable mandatory standards, the written materials required, and the modes and activities to be scored by the camp.
  • Being an active and engaged member of the visit team.
  • Note: The Lead Visitor is the primary liaison with the camp prior to the visit, so please direct all communication to/through the Lead Visitor (and refrain from contacting the camp directly unless the Lead Visitor requests your assistance).
