Camping and leisure activities are important for all of us, including individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This webinar will begin to identify the benefits of having children with ASD and their peers in an inclusive camp setting. We will explore how a camper with ASD might think and introduce a practical peer program called “PAWSS” to support the social interactions at camp. Strengths and challenges of serving campers with ASD will be problem solved and myths will be discarded.

Kathleen “Mo” Taylor is an Occupational Therapist with a 30-year history of working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). She works with the University of New Mexico, Autism Programs as the practicum director at Camp Rising Sun. Kathleen teaches undergraduate, graduate, and international trainees evidence-based practices to support campers with ASD. Kathleen’s 18 years of experience with various ACA accredited camps has given her practical ideas in helping camps to become inclusive to all. She shares her experiences through trainings around the state, USA, and internationally. Her career has been devoted to better “real life” outcomes for all.
