This recorded webinar provides camp and youth-serving organization leaders with a practical, holistic understanding of risk management as both a protective framework and a strategic decision-making tool. Designed for directors, senior staff, and high-risk activity leaders, the session moves beyond compliance to help participants actively apply risk management principles across operations, governance, finance, programming, staffing, and technology to build an organizational culture of safety.
Kendra Perkins
With two decades of rich experience in youth development programming, Kendra brings a wealth of expertise in program management and content development. Her expertise extends to the complexities of overseeing overnight programs for youth, encompassing supervision best practices, mental health and wellness supports, risk management, innovative program and activity development, food services (including managing special dietary needs), and housekeeping.
Throughout her career, Kendra has been dedicated to working with youth and adults with disabilities and illnesses. With a master’s degree in special education, her culminating thesis focused on youth resiliency.
Kendra is a dedicated volunteer in the camp space, assuming national leadership roles and speaker engagements in the areas of staff and volunteer recruitment and retention. As an innovator, she unites leaders from across the country, fostering collaborative environments to share best practices and ground-breaking approaches in the field of special populations camping.
Learners will understand the life cycle of risk within their camp setting, empowering them to assess better and respond to risk utilizing a culture of safety. Discover resources to create a pre- and postseason risk management plan to ensure effective systems, strategies, and responses for all areas of their organization. Develop or update systems, including Risk Management Plan, Safety Committee, Emergency Action Plans, training, and organization-wide exercises/drills for optimal preparedness. Identify clear communication plans for all stakeholders onsite, as well as participant families, organization members off-site, and surrounding communities.
