Barry A. Garst. Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of youth development leadership at Clemson University.  Prior to joining Clemson’s faculty in 2014, Dr. Garst served as the director of program development and research application with the American Camp Association (ACCA), where he provided leadership for strategic educational partnerships as well as a variety of research and education projects. Prior to his work with ACA, Dr. Garst was an assistant professor and extension specialist in youth development at Virginia Tech and the director of a residential camp and conference center. His current interests include the career-development impacts of camp experiences, the influence of overparenting on youth development outcomes, and organizational capacity-building for effective program evaluation.
